Kamikochi Imperial: Living the high life in Japan's Northern Alps

Known collectively as the Hotaka mountain range, they have tongue-tripping names such as Nishihotakadake (2,909 m) and Okuhotakadake (3,190 m) - third highest mountain in Japan.

It's also home to the temperamental Yakedake (2,455 m), which last erupted in 1915, creating a natural dam in the Azusa River and hence, the now famous Taisho Pond.

　今回はtripについて調べました。「旅」などの意味で覚えていたのですが、違う意味で用いられる場合もあるようです。

　『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、「つまずく」、「軽快に歩く」、「間違いをする」などと載っておりました。

　またOxford Dictionary of English (Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)に、 “make a mistake”という定義がありました。

　以上から考えて文中の “tongue-tripping names”は、「舌がつまずく名前」つまり「言いにくい言葉」として用いられていると考えられます。（Gomez）
