Yamato may end deliveries on same day

Yamato Transport Co. is considering quitting same-day deliveries for online retail giant Amazon Japan G.K. in stages, informed sources said Friday.

It has become difficult to continue helping Amazon Japan to provide the same-day delivery service to Amazon customers, as manpower shortages at Yamato Transport have become serious and many employees are working very long hours, according to the sources.

Amazon Japan will therefore need to increase the use of other delivery service providers, such as Japan Post Co., or review its same-day delivery service.
