今回取り上げるのは“a fruity idea”です。
“fruity”は日本語でも「フルーティーな香り」などといった言い方がありますが、また違った意味があるようです。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館与点）を引くと「１．果物のような ２．（話などが）好奇心をくすぐる、きわどい ３．（英略式）声が豊かで深みのある ４．（米略式）いかれた、狂った」の４つの定義がありました。
その中で、今回の記事に適する訳として、４の意味が一番合っているかと思いました。
Merriam-Websterではslangとして“crazy, silly”とありました。
よって、一粒1700円という高い値段に対し「ありえないアイディア」といっているようですが、そんなアイディアも“come to fruition”で採用されたようです。
このように、イチゴが話題なので“fruit”が含まれた表現が使われています。(flyingbird)
