Chubu airport plans makeover to give facility feel for Seattle

TOKONAME, Aichi Prefecture--Chubu Centrair International Airport here plans to re-create the "feel" of Seattle in tune with its display of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger jet.

Airport operator Central Japan International Airport Co. said Jan. 27 that remodeling plans call for setting up 21 restaurants and shops in a commercial complex to be opened in the airport in summer 2018, including a Seattle-based brewery's restaurant and Starbucks.

今回取り上げる表現は、“tune”です。“tune”は日本語でも既に使われているので、「メロディ；曲」という意味はよく知られています。しかし、今回の記事では異なる意味で用いられています。『ウィズダム英和辞典』(第３版、三省堂)を引いたところ、「«…との»一致、調和«with»」とありました。

LDOCEでは、“in tune with sb/sth, out of tune with sb/sth”で“able or unable to realize, understand, or agree with what someone else thinks or wants”と定義されています。
