今回注目した表現は、“fuse”です。“fuse”というと電気関係の「ヒューズ」が思い浮かびますが、動詞だと「〈金属などが〉(熱で)溶ける、融合する；〈集団・文化などが〉«…に/…と»融け合う、融合する、一緒になる(together)«into/with»」という意味になります(『ウィズダム英和辞典』第３版、三省堂)。
LDOCEでは、“to combine different qualities, ideas, or things, or to be combined”と定義されています。
