In two of the past three years, 75% of the revenue generated by the top 10 films in Japan have come from animated features. 今回取り上げる単語は、fresh-and-bloodです。Oxford Dictionary of English (Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)で調べたところ、 “used to refer to a person's physical body and their needs and frailties, often as opposed to their mind or soul”と定義されておりました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）では、「（血の通う）肉体，（生身の）人間，人情」などと載っておりました。
先生によりますと、flesh and bloodは元々は聖書にあった表現で、
"Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 16:17).
その後、Shakespeareが数々の作品のなかで用いたとのことです。おそらく一番有名なのが、私たちも授業で学んだ「ベニスの商人」の一節ではないでしょうか。
