Autumn splendor

Crimson and orange-tinged maple leaves regale visitors at Nanzenji temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, on Thursday. The leaves in the garden of the small temple Tenjuan on the grounds of Nanzenji were tinged with autumnal colors about a week earlier than usual. The dazzling red and orange of the leaves brought out the contrast of white sand and green moss of a karesansui-style dry landscape in the garden.
