今回取り上げる表現は “take a dip” です。

表現中の “dip” が気になり, 『リーダーズ英和中辞典』(研究社)で確認したところ, 口語で「ひと浴び, ひと泳ぎ」とありました。また “have [take] a dip in the sea” では, 海でひと浴びする様子を表すそうです。

Online Slang Dictionary.com には, “to swim or enter a body of water” と定義されています。

つまり今回は, 動物が温泉に浸かってくつろぐ様子を “take a dip” と表現していることがわかりました。(Cayu)
