Shinkansen driver has feet up on the job

A 29-year-old Shinkansen bullet train driver had his feet up while working on Tuesday, Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) has said.

According to JR Tokai’s announcement, the motorman of the Kodama 653 train on the Tokaido Shinkansen line had his feet up on the control panel at about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday while operating the 16-car train in a Kakegawa-Hamamatsu section in Shizuoka Prefecture. Carrying about 320 passengers, the train departed from Tokyo Station at 11:56 a.m. and arrived at Shin-Osaka Station at 4 p.m. on time.

This incident came to light when a photo showing the bottom of his feet through the front windshield of the train cab was posted on a Twitter microblogging site.
