Musicians issue statement against scalpers

Japanese musicians and music industry bodies have joined forces to oppose the reselling of concert tickets for profit.

Four industry groups and 116 artists issued an online statement on Tuesday expressing alarm over secondary market ticket sales at exorbitant prices.

They said the shady practice, known as scalping, adds to ordinary fans' financial burden and deprives them of chances to see concerts.

Concert tickets purchased for resale are often sold on the Internet at huge markups from face value.
