Rio 2016 / Olympic exhibition opens at Haneda
To heighten the mood heading into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, an exhibition exploring the history of the Games started at the Discovery Museum inside Haneda Airport on Wednesday.
The exhibition, “Legacy to the Future,” which will run for about a year, has been organized by The Yomiuri Shimbun.
The exhibition looks into the multifaceted legacy of the Olympics through historical records, news articles and other sources, and will change its theme every two or three months. The first segment, which started on Wednesday, focuses on the changes in Japanese society that occurred from around the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. About 50 items are on display, including magazines and video footage that depict the lives of the people at that time and how transportation networks developed.
“The Olympics has had a great impact on social development. We hope visitors will feel the significance of being the host of the event,” said Shoichi Yukiyoshi, 57, a former curator of the Edo-Tokyo Museum, who supervised the exhibition.
The second segment of the exhibition will feature the upcoming Rio Olympics and Paralympics and its touching moments. The third segment will focus on athletes and the challenges they meet, and the fourth will look at the Paralympics.
The museum is on the third floor of Haneda Airport’s domestic Terminal 2. It is open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., except for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when it opens from 10 a.m. Admission is free.

今回取り上げるのはfootageです。前にあるvideoとthat以下の説明から、映像のことを表しているのだろうと思いました。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（研究社 第5版）で調べてみますと、不可算名詞で「（記録）映画（映像）、（フィルムの）場面」とありました。LDOCEには “cinema film showing a particular event” とありました。映像は映像でも何か出来事を記録したもののことを言うときはfootageを使うのだということを覚えておきたいです。
