All of this can be a challenge for Muslims fasting during Ramadan, the holiest month of the Muslim calendar. Throughout the month, they abstain from eating and drinking during daylight — nearly 17 hours most days.
今回取り上げるのはSummer (and its treats) couldn’t have come sooner.という文です。直訳してもかえってわけがわからなくなりますが，これは以前，授業でも取り上げられた「couldn't have+pp+比較級」と同じパターンです。ということで，「夏と（夏のおやつ）が絶妙の/またとないタイミングでやってきた。」という最上級の意味になると考えました。
ところが約一か月間、日没から日の出の間一切食べ物や飲み物を口にしない「ラマダーン」（fast）に入っているイスラム教徒（今年は6月6日から７月５日まで）にはなんとも間の悪い（challenge）ことになってしまいました。
暑い日中にはファーマーズマーケットで売っているアイスを食べたくなりますが、ラマダーンの期間は気軽に食べることができませんないのです。甘いものには目がないわたしにはとてもできないと感じました。(flyingbird)
