Entertainment powerhouse Yoshimoto to open school in Okinawa
TOKYO —Major Japanese entertainment management company Yoshimoto Kogyo Co said Wednesday it will establish an academy in Okinawa to foster local talent in performance and production.
The academy in the island prefecture in Japan’s southwest will offer training in performing arts including dance, song and comedy, as well as lighting, costume design and other production disciplines.
“Okinawa is a fitting location to build a hub for the cultivation of entertainment talent across the whole Asian region,” the Osakabased company that specializes in production for TV, radio, commercials and theatre said.
今回取り上げるのは、“entertainment powerhouse”という表現です。“powerhouse”は文字通り「発電所」という意味もあります。LDOCEで調べてみると、“an organization or place where there is a lot of activity or where a lot of things are produced”と定義されていました。
