Nishikori passes Spanish test

Grand Slam finalists Kei Nishikori and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have booked a blockbuster fourth-round showdown after both posted victories under the roof at the Australian Open on Friday.

Nishikori shook off a wrist niggle and free-swinging Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 7-5 2-6 6-3 6-4 under the roof on Margaret Court Arena while Tsonga was tested against compatriot Pierre-Hugues Herbert over at Hisense Arena.

He has beaten the Frenchman four of the six times they have clashed but lost a five-set thriller in the quarterfinals of last year’s French Open.
