the Kermit-green, sinus scorching paste

SUSHI AND BEYONDのChapter 12はこれまた私の故郷である静岡の名産ワサビについて書かれたもの。引用部分ではお寿司やお刺身の隅にあるペースト状のワサビをthe Kermit-green, sinus scorching pasteと表現しています。Kermit-greenのKermitはSesame Streetなどに登場するカエルのパペットのこと。私の友人がこのKermitを好きでぬいぐるみを持っていたのですぐに想像できましたが，（ペースト状の）ワサビの色合いを表すのに適当なキャラクターです。さらにsinusは「洞（鼻の後ろにある頭蓋骨のくぼみ）」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）を指し，sinus scorchingは「鼻につんとくる」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）

It is rare to find wasabia japonica served outside of Japan.
