“Cats are genetically hard-wired through instinct to avoid snakes,” Con Slobodchikoff, animal behaviorist and author of “Chasing Doctor Dolittle: Learning the Language of Animals,” said. ”Cucumber look enough like a snake to have the cat’s instinctive fear of snakes kick in.”
