New York Today: Alternative Christmases
Good morning on this waterlogged Thursday. It’s Christmas Eve. As you may be able to tell from the weather — and everyone is talking about the weather — we won’t be getting a white Christmas this year. Instead, we may have record-breaking high temperatures. But white Christmases are rarer in New York than you might think: The historical probability of one in New York is somewhere between 11 and 25 percent.
So rather than bemoaning the warm temperatures, or letting global-warming-related anxiety get the better of you, here are some ideas for celebrating a less-than-wintry Christmas:
