日本では，年間数十件の北朝鮮から来たと思われる船が打ち上げられているようです。見出しでは幽霊船と表現されておりますが，船にだれも乗っていなかったり，腐敗した死体が見つかることもあるようです。
記事の中で気になった単語は"exposure"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）で文脈に合いそうな意味を調べると「低体温(症)」というものがありました。"exposure"は「｟危険･風雨などに｠さらされること，野ざらし」といういう意味があるため，ここから転じて寒空の下で野ざらしとなり，低体温症という結果につながるのだと思いました。ODには低体温症そのものの定義は見つかりませんでしたが，"A physical condition resulting from being outside in severe weather without adequate protection"が近いと思いました。（Ume）
The 'North Korea ghost boats' washing up on Japan
Japanese officials are investigating the causes of death but say some of the bodies are in such a bad state of decomposition that it may be impossible to identify cause of death.
However, exposed to the elements - it is now winter in the region - and with little food on board, exposure and starvation are possible explanations.
Japan normally bans North Korean ships from landing in the country, although it makes exceptions on humanitarian grounds, such as for ships sheltering from storms.
