11月1日に日中韓、2日に日韓の首脳会談が開催されることが決定しました。日韓首脳会談は３年ぶりの開催であり、慰安婦問題を始めとして両国の溝は深いですが、少しでも関係改善に結びつくことが期待されています。

取り上げるのは”tidbit”です。
LDOCEには”a small but interesting piece of information, news etc”とありました。『ジーニアス英和辞典第４版（大修館書店）』も引いてみると、「《米》一口のうまい食べ物」という意味の他に「短いが面白い（ニュースなどの）断片、さわり」という意味が書かれていました。英では主に”titbit”であるとも書かれています。例には”tidbits of knowledge”で「ちょっとした知識」という表現もありました。
直前にある”barbed”という単語は、私は”barbed wire”などで覚えていましたが、他に「<言葉が>辛辣な」（G4）という意味もあるようで、ここではその意味で使われています。うまい日本語にできませんが、大まかには日韓首脳会談の情報が悪意を持って漏らされたという解釈になるのではないかと思います。ちなみにですが、”barbed tidbit”という共起のしかたはインターネットで調べてみてもほとんどないので、かなり珍しい組み合わせではないかと思われます。(bookmark)
