Abstract： This talk will examine two types of grammar instruction - explicit instruction and implicit instruction. Various types of explicit instruction are considered – presentation-practice-production, integrated explicit instruction, concept-based instruction, comprehension-based instruction, pattern-practice and consciousness-raising instruction and corrective feedback – and examples of studies that have investigated these are provided. The theoretical basis for implicit grammar instruction is then discussed before examining two ways in which grammar can be taught implicitly – text enhancement and task-based teaching. Again, sample research studies are considered.
I conclude the talk by addressing the relative effectiveness of direct (explicit) and indirect (implicit) intervention in grammar learning. I argue that a balanced language curriculum that includes both explicit and implicit instructional components is most likely to ensure that the instruction results in successful L2 development.
概要：本講演では、２つのタイプの文法指導（明示的および暗示的指導）を扱う。まず、明示的指導に関する研究に言及しながら、様々なタイプの明示的指導について考察する。次に暗示的文法指導の理論的な枠組みにふれた後、指導法に関する２つの具体例を挙げる。
最後に、明示的な指導と暗示的な指導の両方の要素を取り入れた言語カリキュラムが学習者の第二言語発達に最も効果的である、ということを提案する。
