青森県弘前市の「弘前城」で、石垣の大規模な修理を行うため天守を天守台から移動させる「曳屋」の作業が、およそ１００年ぶりに３日から本格的に始まり、およそ４００トンの天守がゆっくり動き始めていきます。

HIROSAKI, Aomori -- The tower of a castle here built during the early Edo period is being shifted by some 70 meters for repair work on the castle's stone walls.
Workers began the process of moving the tenshu tower of Hirosaki Castle on Sept. 3, marking the first time in about 100 years that such work is being done without first dismantling the tower itself.
The castle's tenshu tower, which is registered by the government as an Important Cultural Property, is approximately 14 meters tall and weighs about 400 metric tons. It was propped up in August using hydraulic jacks, and is being rolled slowly sideways on rails until it reaches its planned spot in late October. The tenshu tower is expected to be returned to its original position in 2021.
