ワシントンの国立動物園で22日にジャイアントパンダの「メイシアン」が双子を出産しました。なお、産まれた赤ちゃんの性別はまだ分からないようです。
In more than three decades of trying to breed pandas at the National Zoo, there’s been plenty of heartbreak. More cubs born in Washington have died than survived, and news of a birth has often been greeted warily.

今回、取り上げるのは“giddy”です。“giddy”は「〈人が〉目まいがする、〈場所、スピードなどが〉目まいを起こさせるような」や「［・・で］有頂天の、舞い上がっている」とありました。「『ジーニアス英和辞典第4版』大修館書店」また、“dizzy”と比較すると“feeling unable to stand steadily, for example because you are looking down from a high place or because you are ill:”とあり“giddy”は“feeling slightly sick and unable to balance, because everything seems to be moving”と記されており「目まいがする」という意味合いではどちらも違いはないように感じます。さらに調べると馬を進ませるときの掛け声として“giddy up!”と使うと分かりました。（faith）
