phishing 復習

インターネットバンキングのパスワードをだまし取ることを狙ったメッセージが、ショートメッセージサービス（ＳＮＳ）で不特定多数のスマートフォンに送信されていることが分かりました。電話番号だけでメッセージを送れるＳＭＳの機能が悪用されており、銀行は注意を呼び掛けています。

Scammers are using short message services (SMS) to send phishing messages to smartphone users in an effort to trick them out of their online banking account login information, it has been learned.
Called "phishing," this practice of using messages that mimic notices from corporations in order to guide victims to websites where their IDs and passwords are stolen, became much more common in Japan around 10 years ago. Until now, however, this phishing has mostly been done through email. It is believed that by using SMS, which can work with just a phone number, scammers are targeting smartphone users, sending out floods of the phishing messages.

今回取り上げる表現は、“phishing”です。Oxford Dictionariesによると、“The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers, online.”で、『ジーニアス英和辞典第４版』（大修館書店）には、「フィッシング」とありました。「フィッシング」は、インターネットで他人の銀行口座の情報を盗んで使うことです。語源は、「釣り」を意味する“fishing”ですが、偽装の手法が洗練されている（sophisticated）ことから“phishing”と綴るようになったとする説があります。ＳＮＳという身近にあるものから詐欺があるので、気を付けていきたいです。(Nao)
