slacken
統一地方選挙の前半戦において自民党が他党を退いて大勝したようです。今回の地方選挙は10の道と県の知事選挙、五つの政令指定都市の市長選挙、さらに４１の道府県議会議員選挙と１７の政令指定都市の市議会議員選挙という内容でした。
今回、取り上げるのは“slacken”です。この単語は“slack”に接尾辞である“-en”が付いた形です。“slacken”は（<網など>を緩める、を緩和する、<力・速度など>を減ずる、弱める）とありました。
「『ジーニアス英和辞典第四版』大修館書店」また、LDOCEには“to make or become slack; reduce in activity, force, etc, or in tightness”と記されています。
記事では大勝をしたことに気を取られず、後半の選挙でも準備に気を緩めることなく戦っていくと伝えています。
