「代理出産」というと本ブログでsurrogacyという単語がすでに採り上げられていますが，今回の見出しにあるrent-a-wombもこれに相当します。rent-a-は「貸し…; 派遣の, 雇われの」（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）という意味の表現で，rent-a-carがその典型です。wombは「子宮」のことですので，rent-a-wombは「子宮を借りる」＝「代理出産」となります。（Koyamamoto）

Thai rent-a-womb tally hits 13; dad flees to Macau
BANGKOK – Thai police said Friday that four more babies that might have been fathered by a Japanese businessman who just fled back to Japan have been located, bringing the total linked to the odd cache of infants found in Bangkok this week to 13.
The unnamed man, whom his lawyer claims is a rich businessman and the surrogate father of the babies, is 24 years old and has visited Thailand 65 times over the past two years, according to Thai immigration authorities.
