The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival returns to Queens this weekend.
Nearly 200 teams in dragon-headed boats, each with a steersman and a drummer, will race across Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
We reached one of the participants on her way from the dock — to a crime scene.
Commander Diana Pizutti of the Police Department oversees eight precincts in Queens.
“On the boat, I’m just a paddler like everybody else,” said Cmdr. Pizutti, 56, over the phone.
Her all-female team, long known as the Dragon Queens, will compete in a variety of heats during the two-day festival, including Saturday’s Municipal Cup– a co-ed race for city agencies.
