real glad

うそのような本当の話です。

内容とはまったく関係ありませんが、real gladのような口語のrealの副詞的な用法は新聞記事にも進出していますね。といっても、直接引用で、タブロイド紙ですが…。(UG)

US farmer’s lost phone discovered in Japan nine months later

An Oklahoma grain farmer who dropped his iPhone in a pile of grain was stunned when he received a phone call from someone claiming to have found it – in Japan.

Kevin Whitney dropped his mobile into a pit, which was then dumped into a bin containing 280,000 lbs of grain, last October and thought he’d never see it again.

But to his surprise, he received a phone call from Kashima in Japan a few days ago.

‘The man on the other end said, “Is this Kevin Whitney?” I said yeah this is Kevin,’ Mr Whitney told KFOR.

‘He said, “Did you lose a cellphone?” I said yeah I lost a cellphone last fall.’

According to KFOR, the grain containing the phone was driven from Chickasha to Inola, Oklahoma. From there it traveled along the Arkansas River and then down the Mississippi River by barge to Convent, Louisiana.

It eventually reached Kashima, Japan, where the caller found the phone among 2million bushels of grain.

He then sent the phone back to Chickasha.

‘It’s crazy – I can’t believe it,’ said Mr Whitney.

‘There are a lot of meaningful pictures on it so we’re real glad to get the phone back.’
