Air Self-Defense Force considers shooting video during sorties to counter China

The Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) is considering taking video from some of its planes after China recently used video evidence to argue Japanese planes flew too close to one of its aircraft, the ASDF chief of staff revealed at a June 27 press conference.

After the close encounter between the Chinese military plane and the ASDF planes on June 11, China posted video online that it says proves the Japanese planes had been the ones to close in. Afterwards, some Japanese lawmakers -- primarily from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party -- stated that the ASDF should take video, too, so that Japan can argue back more effectively.
