　 A Communicative Grammar of English: its background, history and future.

6. 概要：
Fifty years ago, Geoffrey Leech and Jan Svartvik were engaged in writing a new kind of grammar book, which in 1975 was published as A Communicative Grammar of English. The book is still widely used, and a fourth edition is now in preparation. In this lecture, one of these co-authors reflects on how this book has been a product of two revolutions in English language teaching
and research: the revolution in communicative language teaching that took place in the 1970s and 1980s, and the revolution in corpus linguistics methods of study which came into full prominence in the 1990s. He will also explain how changes were introduced in the second and third addition, and what further improvements are envisaged for the fourth edition.
