ＳＴＡＰ論文の研究不正を調べていた理研の調査委員会が小保方氏による捏造と改ざんを認定しましたが，小保方氏はこれに反発しています。
すでにブログでも採り上げられていますが「競走, 競争, 競技, コンクール」という意味のcontestには他動詞用法で「…に異議［異論］を唱える」という意味があります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。ストレスの位置も当然、「名前動後」（岸本能武太の造語）で違います。英英辞書にもto say formally that you do not accept something or do not agree with it（LDOCE）と説明がありました。
よってここでは「理化学研究所の決定に異論を唱えた」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）
Riken says no new probe of STAP paper, upholds falsification finding
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The government-funded Riken institute said Thursday it has decided not to conduct a reinvestigation sought by embattled young scientist Haruko Obokata into her controversial paper on pluripotent cells.
... But Obokata contested the report, saying she simply made mistakes without malicious intent and insisted her findings remained valid.
