ニュースを聞いたときには耳を疑いました。アニメ「サザエさん」の波平役で知られる声優の永井一郎氏が収録先の広島市内のホテルで亡くなりました。82歳でした。
動詞のvoiceには「〈意見・気持ちなど〉を言う，言葉にする」という意味の他に「（アニメなどで）〈登場人物〉の役の声を出す，…の役の声優を務める」という意味があります（『ウィズダム英和辞典』第3版，三省堂）。
「サザエさん」の他に「HUNTER×HUNTER」や「はじめの一歩」など，現在放送中の人気アニメでも声優を務めていた永井さん。後任を誰が務めることになるのでしょうか。（Koyamamoto）

Voice actor from popular anime 'Sazae-san' dies at 82
Ichiro Nagai, the voice behind the character Namihei Isono in the popular anime series "Sazae-san," was confirmed dead on Jan. 27 after being found collapsed at a hotel in Hiroshima, police said. He was 82.
The voice actor's agency said his cause of death was heart failure. He had checked into the hotel on Jan. 26 after finishing work at RCC Broadcasting Co., Ltd., and was supposed to check out on Jan. 27 and travel home. His funeral dates have yet to be decided.
Nagai hailed from Osaka Prefecture. He voiced characters in many other popular anime titles, providing the voices for Konaki Jijii in "Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro," Kotetsu in "Jarinko Chie," and Jigoro Inokuma in "Yawara!"
