奇妙な事件を起こしてきた犯罪者が逮捕されました。

記事の最後にある”crime spree”をWisdom英和辞典（第三版）』（三省堂）で調べると「（連続した無差別の）犯罪行為」という意味でした。この事件は女性にマヨネーズをかけて逃げるというものです。ちなみに「crime spree」というタイトルの映画がありました。内容はアクションコメディのようです。不可思議な犯罪のときにはこの表現が使われるのでしょうか。Oxford辞典には「unrestrained activity of a particular kind」という記述があったので特に「不思議な事件」に限定する表現ではないようです。（Ume）

Man arrested for series of mayo attacks

On the evening of last Oct 31, the 10th grader was riding an escalator to the platform of Hankyu Noseguchi Station, also located in Sakaemachi. Suddenly, she heard a strange noise, and turned around to see the suspect standing behind here.

A trip to the ladies’ room and a look in the mirror revealed a blob of mayonnaise on her back, but by the time she exited the bathroom, the man was nowhere to be found.

A police investigation uncovered six other mayo attacks in the area surrounding the station during the same month. The suspect appeared in the security footage detectives examined, enabling them to identify and track him down.

Upon his arrest, the 25-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released, made no attempt to deny his actions, stating “There is no mistake” when questioned as to whether he was the one behind the bizarre crime spree.
