diggingsが気になりましたので、早速手持ちの辞書を引いて確認してみますと、ここでは第三語義の「（主に英･くだけた話）[〜s] 下宿、ねぐら」（『Wisdom英和辞典(第3版)』三省堂)に相当します。ただOxford Dictionaries Onlineの定義に目を通してみますと’ British informal, dated lodgings.’と掲載されていることからも古い表現とのことですので使用する際は注意が必要ですね。 (Shou-VR*)
