Hyundai Motor feels heat from Japanese rivals in China
Hyundai and Kia were the only major South Korean carmakers to suffer falls in domestic sales in November, as they struggled to fend off competition from smaller rivals and imported cars.
South Korean sales slumped 12% in November from a year earlier, Hyundai said. Kia’s domestic sales fell 12%, while its overseas sales inched up 2%.
この記事の"slump"という意味を調べました。以前UG先生が取り上げられたものは「くずれるように座る、ぐったりとなる」という意味でした。『Wisdom英和辞典（第三版）』（三省堂）で調べると「（事業などが）急に不振になる，減少する」という意味がありました。現代・起亜グループは2011年のデータで韓国GDPの12.6%を占めているという記事がありました。それだけ大きな会社であるということですね。（Ume）
