High school student brings gun to school, father arrested after teacher accidentally fires it
The incident happened at a school in Shime, Fukuoka Prefecture. The teacher had noticed that one of his male students had brought something that appeared to look like a gun.
According to police reports, the boy had told other students that “I’ve brought something that my father was keeping.” According to police and to the school, it was assumed that the boy had brought a fake gun to school. The teacher then took the item off the boy for safekeeping, and an incident occurred on November 23 where the gun was accidentally fired. The teacher didn’t initially believe that it could be the real thing, and stored it in the staff room, where the accidental firing happened.
Details have not been given on the accidental firing, other than the fact that the weapon was in the hands of a 25 year old instructor when it went off, but most of us will be able to assume what happened, judging from the admission that the teachers did not believe it was a real gun in the first place.
