様々な定義が存在するknock outですが本文では第三語義の「（（米略式））＜敵・嵐などが＞・・・を不能にする、破壊する」（『ジーニアス英和辞典 第３版』大修館）となります。確認のためMerriam-Webster's Online Dictionary, 11th Editionを参照してみますと’ to make inoperative or useless
