get the last laugh

先日発売が開始された新型iPhoneの売れ行きが好調で，早くも900万台に達しました。発売前は専門家等から懸念の声もありましたが，数字がすべてを払拭する結果となりました。
日本語でも「最後に笑うのは」という表現がありますが，英語でも同様にget the last laughという表現があります。辞書には「（負けたようにみえても）（人に）結局勝つ｟on ...｠；結局成功する」とありました（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。

Apple sets new record for iPhones sales launch
NEW YORK — Apple said Monday it sold a record nine million iPhones in the three days after launching two new versions of the smartphone.
“This is our best iPhone launch yet—more than nine million new iPhones sold—new record for first weekend sales,” said Apple chief executive Tim Cook in a statement.
The figures from Apple appeared to defy predictions from its critics that the company is losing momentum in the smartphone market and in innovation.
“Apple gets the last laugh,” said Roger Kay, analyst at Endpoint Technologies Associates, in a tweet.
