SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (Jiji Press)—Apple Inc. said Tuesday it will launch the iPhone 5S and lower-priced iPhone 5C smartphones in nine countries including Japan and the United States on Sept. 20.
By the end of this year, Apple will release the two new iPhone models in about 100 countries and regions, the company said at a special event in Cupertino, Calif.
At the same event, NTT Docomo Inc. officially announced that the iPhone 5S and 5C will be available for its Docomo network in Japan immediately after the launch. Orders will be accepted from 4 p.m. Friday, the company said, adding that handset prices and service fees will be announced shortly.

手持ちの辞書にはhandsetでリモコンや送受話器の意味が載っていましたが、ネットで調べてみると
it means the up-front cost that you need to pay when you buy an item. For example, when you sign a contract with Virgin for a free Phone and pay monthly, You need to pay handset price for them first.
