今回は、blind dateという表現に注目してみます。記事で取り上げられている老夫婦のお二人はblind dateで出会ったとの事ですが、blind dateの意味を知らなかったので調べてみると、「（第三者の仲介による）初対面の男女のデート；その相手」(『ウィズダム英和辞典　第二版』三省堂)と定義されていました。念の為に英英でも調べてみても、"a date between two persons who have not previously met"(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)と、定義されているように、英和辞典で定義されていた意味と同じような意味になるようです。(Astroriver)
