最近では、「女子会」ならぬ、「男子会」もよく行われているようです。

Six friends got together at an izakaya restaurant in Tokyo one recent evening. All fans of drinking parties, traveling and fishing, they chatted and drank and generally had a fun time.
Nothing unusual in that. But these six were taking part in a “danshikai”--a men-only gathering that mirrors the more common “joshikai” women-only party in which women talk (and usually drink) with each other. And it seems more men are taking part in these bonding sessions.

今回取り上げたい表現は、動詞のmirrorです。これは、赤字を含む文を読むと、簡単に意味が推測できると思いますが、手持ちの辞書で調べてみました。すると、「（鏡のように）映す、反映する」という意味のほかに「〜とよく似ている、重なる」という意味があるようです（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館）。LDOCEにも” if one thing mirrors another, it is very similar to it and may seem to copy or represent it”とありました。

女子会といえば、ガールズトークが止まらないイメージですが、男子会でも話がつきないのでしょうか。腹を割って話せる仲間がいるのは、大切なことですね。(Nat)
