標記のstíck to (one's/the) gunsは「自分の立場を固守する，屈服しない」という意味のイディオムですが，「（たとえ反対にあっても ）自分の立場，主張を曲げない」というのがポイントです。「ぶれない」という今風の言い方にも相通じるものがあるようです。起源は文字通り，何があっても銃を手放さないという兵士の心得からきたもの。元々はきな臭さの漂う表現ですが，個人的には高校の担任の口癖でもあったので（教科は数学），懐かしさもあります。（UG）
