見出しのslapに目がとまりました。ブログでもこれまでslap in the face、a slap on the wristなど、「平手打ちでたたく」という意味を中核とする表現が取り上げられてきていますが、ここはヤクザの幹部が懲役という実刑でたたかれる、つまり、手痛い懲役という判決がくだったということでしょうか。ふつうは「たたく」側である彼らがたたかれることになるのですね。（GP）

Yakuza leader slapped with prison sentence for organized blackmailing

KYOTO -- A court here has sentenced the No. 2 leader of the Yamaguchi-gumi criminal syndicate to six years in prison for teaming up with members of his gang to blackmail a man into handing over 40 million yen.

Kiyoshi Takayama, 65, head of the Kodo-kai gang, and the second in charge of the Yamaguchi-gumi, was convicted of extorting the massive amount of cash from a 67-year-old man in the construction industry in Kyoto under the pretext of "protection money."

"Takayama was in a higher position than other gang members and took part in the blackmailing," Presiding Judge Akihiro Ogura said in handing down the ruling at the Kyoto District Court on March 22. The defense counsel for Takayama is poised to appeal the sentence.
