今回は、以下の記事中に使われているaddressの用法についてです。

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then is thermal runaway in the eye of the battery holder?

On Friday, Boeing Co. executives shared the most detailed explanation yet of how its proposed set of fixes will sufficiently address the high-profile battery woes that have grounded its 787 Dreamliner.

But the issue that was the most contentiously fussed over during the course of the 90-minute press conference in Tokyo was the definition of a thermal runaway, a condition in which the temperature of a battery cell starts to rise dramatically and the heat spreads quickly to other cells inside the battery.

It seems an important distinction to make―and one that Boeing insisted on splitting hairs over.

addressは動詞の意味では、「〈人〉に話しかける」(『ウィズダム英和辞典　第二版』三省堂)という意味が頭には入っているのですが、今回はそれでは意味が合いません。辞書を引いてみると、「取り組む；〈困難な状況・問題など〉に立ち向かう,対処する,…を処理する」(『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館書店)という意味が定義されていました。また、LDOCEには、"formal if you address a problem, you start trying to solve it"と定義されていました。
今回の記事中では、「注目を浴びたバッテリーの問題に対処する」あたりの意味でしょうか。
