get away

1日前のもので恐縮ですが、WBC「日本VS中国」の前田選手のコメントからです。前田選手は肩に違和感(discomfort)を抱えながらも5回無失点の活躍でした。
get awayは「逃げる」や「話がそれる」などの意味がありますが、ここでは("get away from me")は主語が"a number of pitch"(「投球数の何球か」)であります。辞書には載っていませんが、「それる」イメージから「球がすっぽ抜ける」という意味になると思いました。(Minnesota)

Maeda regains pitching form, holds China scoreless for five innings

Japan improved to 2-0 following a tough win over Brazil in Saturday evening’s opener. Earlier on Sunday, Cuba defeated Brazil 5-2. Should Cuba defeat China in Monday’s game, both Cuba and Japan would be guaranteed spots in quarterfinal Pool 1 at Tokyo Dome.

Maeda, who had felt discomfort in his shoulder earlier in the spring and had been in poor form since joining the Japan squad on Feb. 15, allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out six.

“I’m glad I could hold them scoreless,” the Hiroshima Carp ace said of his WBC debut. “However, a number of pitches still got away from me, so I want to correct that before my next outing. I think I eased everyone’s concerns.”
