アカデミー賞の発表が近づいて来ました。今年はどの作品が受賞するのでしょうか。

今回取り上げるのはmore than meets the eyeという表現です。ある程度推測できるかもしれませんが、これはmore (to O) than meets the eye「（…には）見た目以上のものがある,もっと何かがある」（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第４版』大修館書店）という意味になるそうです。Collins Dictionary.comには、"hidden motives, meaning, or facts"と書かれていました。また、moreではなくlessを使うことで逆も表す事ができます。 less than meets the eye「見た目ほどでなく、見掛け倒しで」（英辞郎 on the WEB）

アカデミー賞受賞作、と聞いただけで私はその映画を観てみたくなります。私と同じような人はどれほどいるのかはわかりませんが、アカデミー賞を受賞するというのは映画にとっての名誉、そして大きなアピールポイントになるのではないでしょうか。（Astroriver）
