米軍は戦闘任務に女性兵士を配属する方針を決めたようです。

Pentagon ends ban on women in front-line combat
US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has lifted the military's ban on women serving in combat roles, potentially opening hundreds of thousands of frontline positions to women.
The ruling, officially announced on Thursday, overturns a 1994 rule barring women from small ground-combat units.
But the military would have until 2016 to argue for any specific posts they think should remain closed to women.

Goliathは「[聖書]ゴリアテ≪Davidに投石器で殺されたペリシテ族の巨人戦士」のことですが、（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第３版』大修館）「巨人：きわめて力の強い人：大企業」を意味します。(ibid)　英辞郎on the WEBには「大立て者、強大な影響力を持つ人。」とありました。
少し話はずれますが、私の大好きなジブリ映画の「天空の城ラピュタ」に出てくる海賊ドーラが政府軍のことを「ゴリアテ」と呼んでいたのを思い出しました。

女性が戦闘任務から外されるのは公平では無いという考えはわかりますが、やはり女性が戦線に立つのは危険であるように思えます。(Hatahata)
