mete out

「分け与える」という意味のmete outですが，英英辞書に"if you mete out a punishment, you give it to someone"（LDOCE）とあるように，専ら「罰を与える」という意味で用いられます。だからこそphysical punishmentとcollocationがいいのですね。（Koyamamoto）
