大阪府で起きたバスケ部顧問の体罰による部員の自殺。同じくバスケ部の顧問を受け持つ立場として人ごととは思えません。これに関するJAPAN TODAYの記事を読んでいて以前にUG先生が採り上げられていたa litany of ~という表現を再発見しました。litany自体はキリスト教の「連祷」のことですが，a litany of ~で「しつこく繰り返される…」という意味になります（『プログレッシブ英和中辞典』小学館）。今回のa litany of abuseは「執拗なまでに暴力を受ける」と解釈できます。（Koyamamoto）

Student commits suicide after being beaten by school basketball coach
OSAKA — Osaka Board of Education officials told a news conference on Tuesday that a 17-year-old high school student committed suicide on Dec 23 after he was physically punished by a teacher who coached the basketball team.
…The case of a 13-year-old boy who leapt to his death from an apartment building in 2011 gained national prominence after a survey of students revealed he was subjected to a litany of abuse by bullies.
