abcNews から気になった表現を拾いたいと思います。

lining は「(衣服などの)裏張り、裏」「裏地」などを表します。(『ジーニアス英和辞典 第4版』大修館書店)直訳すると「銀色の裏地」ですが、ここでは意味が通りません。silver lining で調べてみると「(逆境にあっての)希望の光」という意味がありました。(Weblio)cf.http://ejje.weblio.jp/content/silver+lining

またsilver lining に関連して、every cloud has a silver lining ということわざが出てきました。これは「どんな悪いものにも良い面はある」「不幸中に幸いあり」という意味です。反対に、every silver lining has a cloud ということわざも存在しました。これは「どんな良いものにも悪い面はある」という意味になります。
