Portland rainfall mark for 2012 will be one for the books

Like this: For 2012, the total rainfall is expected to be at least 50.43 inches, according to Andy Bryant at the National Weather Service. To put that in perspective, that's about the height of an average 7-year-old kid.

But any way you describe it, the year will be one for the record books. The average rainfall in the Portland area is 39 inches, said Bryant.
